RDPL's Exhibit: The Pantodont!

Red Deer's specimen is a cast of a skull of a pantodont, a large herbivorous mammal. This specimen was found in 2001 during a road-widening project just east of Red Deer from a Palaeocene-aged site (approx. 60 million years old!). Pantodonts were one of the first groups of mammals to evolve a large body size after the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Stop by the Downtown Branch any time during open hours to visit the pop-up exhibit, which is located on the second floor (between the DVD collection and Adult Fiction books).
