26 in ’26: Jenn’s Recommendations to Break Your Slump!

I put together a small list of a few recommendations to get you out of a reading slump. I tend to gravitate towards graphic novels personally, but I’ll offer up some regular novels as well!

Several People Are Typing

First up is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read! I was in a slump when someone recommended it to me and the format (written in the form of Slack messages) made it easy to whip through.

Gideon the Ninth

This one is very near and dear to my heart. Funny in a snarky, dry, sarcastic kind of way, but also soul-wrenching. Full disclosure, this series is not finished yet, but I still highly recommend it!

Monstress (2015), Book One

As I said, graphic novels are my go-to to get me out of a reading slump. Usually I go for lighter ones that are easy to digest, but once in a while I need something gritty and dark. The Monstress series is that series for me. Steampunk, fantasy, horror, with beautiful art by Sana Takeda to top it all off.

Wonder Cat Kyuu-chan

My last recommendation is a quick, light-hearted, easy-to-read graphic novel. As long as you don’t mind reading “backwards”, then this series is the one for any cat lover!
