ABC Connect for Learning, opens a new window is a digital literacy program that offers free resources to those looking to improve their digital skills. 

ABC Connect for Learning offers a flexible approach to digital learning that supports learners at different stages of their digital literacy journeys. This free program offers resources to help you get started using digital devices and learn popular applications you can use on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Choose from downloadable activities and workbooks, video lessons, and online courses from the ABC Skills Hub, opens a new window online learning platform.

Do you need help learning how to use your smartphone, tablet, computer, printer, or other device? Access free one-on-one training sessions, provided over the phone, through Connected Canadians.

Connected Canadians, opens a new window is a registered charity focused on digital literacy and digital inclusion. They have over 350 trained technology mentors who are ready to help you learn a new skill or build on your current knowledge of any kind of device or program.

Some common requests for free help from Connected Canadians' senior clients include:

• Setting up and using email (including how to send photos)
• Facebook/YouTube basics
• How to video chat (FaceTime, Skype, Zoom)
• Navigating websites, browser settings, & more

Connected Canadians also hosts FREE technology workshops for groups of older adults to learn on specific topics, including “Phishing Scams,” “Google Maps & Google Places,” “Music & Technology,” and more!

In this free program from the Province of Alberta, opens a new window, you will learn how to use the internet with confidence as a tool to improve your day-to-day life. Whether you’re starting at the very beginning, or you just want to improve your online skills, their self-guided courses will meet you where you’re at and help you learn new skills quickly.

The digital literacy courses are organized into two streams: the Beginner Program, for those who are pretty new to computers and using the internet, and the Intermediate Program, for those with some pre-existing knowledge.
